A Soldier's Story

A soldier's story is an African American drama film created in 1984. This movie is directed by Norman Jewison who is famous other movies that he has directed. This movie is based on the original play A Soldiers Play, it takes place near the end of World War II. When segregation was still a big factor and it was in the movie. This film has an All-Star lineup in the meaning of Hollywood.

Howard E. Rollins- Played Cpt. Davenport the investigator into the mysterious murder to the not very like Sargent Waters. The more Cpt. Davenport looks into the murder the more confusing it gets, his role is big because hes the main guy in all the action in the movie.

Adolf Caesar  Played Sgt. Waters which is in the opening scene in not such a bright light. The Sgt. got shot by which was an anonymous character  Sgt. Waters was a troubled man from the south that did not like the average black man that think they run everything. He was one of the more Lilberal African Americans I have ever seen.

Denzel Washington- This actor is one of those movie stars that everyone is going to recognize him either if they didn't even live when the movie was releases. Denzel played Pfc. Peterson. He was an low ball kind of character that did stand up for himself no matter what the circumstances was. The irony in this movie is that Sgt. Waters actually wanted to promote Peterson to head officer. Peterson dissagreed with the Sgt. beliefs.

Larry Riley- This character in this movie is the main point of the movie even though he wasn't the star. C.J. Memphis was a great baseball player that was one of those gifted black young men that had everything going for him, Except waters didn't like his type at all, he tried everything he can to get rid of Memphis. At the end of the movie he killed himself because of a action that Sgt. did.
